OUTREACH TO KWANIA

It is Sunday in Uganda (July 20) and we spent the morning in church worshiping Ugandan style. This means basically we had two services with an aerobics session included. 😂

After church we loaded

our team plus a team from Truth Evangelistic Fountain Ministries into 4 vehicles and drove to a remote village about 90 minutes away. We ate lunch as we drove. As we arrived, we were greeted by singing and dancing and shouting. Many were already gathered inside the very traditional thatch roof structure that is the church in this community. They were already singing so loudly you could not hear each other speak if you tried.

First we split into Sunday School classes. Four of them : children, youth/singles, marrieds, and widows/single mothers. Team members led each section. Bill and Nurse Kelly led the children, one of our four David’s led the youth, another Dave led the marrieds, and I (Lasaundra) led the widows and single mothers. Each class was a beautiful blessing.

After this, we walked up the road to an open spot under some giant trees where MANY more people had gathered. Worship, singing, clapping, shouting, and dancing were once again well under way with several hundred people. By this time, our team was exhausted. We had been up since 5 am and had been through 3 long services already. But we “pulled up our socks” as they say here in Uganda, and joined in the fun. Pastor Jeremy from our team brought an awesome sermon on the prodigal son with the help of a translator. An invitation was given and many came for salvation, for healing, for prayer, and for deliverance. Yes…you read that right. Deliverance. One girl I (Lasaundra) prayed with said she was sick, but the moment I took her hands and started praying for her, her hands began to shake. I felt in my spirit there was more. I made her open her eyes and look at me and asked her to tell me what else was going on. She fearfully (with literal trembling) told me that every day in class “something” comes to her and covers her eyes and plugs her ears so she cannot learn or understand. She spoke English so we were able to communicate. As I and another Ugandan woman prayed over her, we believe she was set free. In further conversation, she received Jesus as Lord and Savior!!!

Many came to Christ during this outreach! Truth church will continue to minister monthly in this community, conducting follow up and discipleship. Praise the Lord Almighty for His Spirit pouring out on this community. Our team is humbled and grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this.
