As we begin our trip, I should probably introduce our 2022 team.

I've already introduced myself, the one “non-medical” member of our team. In my regular life, I am a mom of 4 adult children (+ a couple of bonus girls), and Marmee to my favorite little people. I am also the director of Women’s Ministry at our church. Malawi has had my heart since our first trip in 2013.

My husband Bill, the team medical lead, is a Physician Assistant specializing in Dermatology. He’s been a PA for over 25 years. He loves the challenge of skin care in Malawi as well as hanging out with all the kids.

Denise is returning with us to Malawi for her 3rd year. Nursing was a second carrier for her about 18 years ago, and she currently works as a palliative care nurse in WA and attends our church. She’s also a wife, mom, and grandma. She loves to use her nursing skills to serve the kids in Malawi and feels privileged to be called by the Lord to return again this year.
Ann, a new team member this year, is a Whidbey Island native, currently living in CO and working as an ER nurse. (She will be moving to TX shortly after our return to the states.) She’s been a nurse for 4 years. This will be her 4th or 5th trip to the African continent but her first to Malawi, with COTN, and with a medical team. The story of how God planted the seeds for her to work with us and COTN on this trip began years ago. After joining our team, she quickly recruited out last team member, Davis.
Davis is a CO native and has been a nurse for 4 years. He currently works in the ER. The opportunity to join our team came unexpectedly one day when Ann asked, “You’re a Christian, right? Want to go to Africa on a missions trip this summer? They need nurses…” Within a very short period of time He was officially on the team. He loves the outdoors and staying active. This is his first international mission’s trip.
This is the smallest team we’ve traveled with to date, but it's a strong team of medical professionals who love the Lord and want to serve. We are so excited to see what God does this year!
